Most of the features present in other BitTorrent clients are present in µTorrent, including bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading and Mainline DHT (compatible with BitComet). Additionally, µTorrent supports the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above, BitComet 0.63 and above) and peer exchange.

The developer puts in a lot of time working on features and making things more user-friendly. Releases only come out when they’re ready, with no schedule pressures, so the few bugs that appear are quickly addressed and fixed.

• Azureus

Azureus is a Java-based BitTorrent client, with support for I2P and Tor anonymous communication protocols. The core developers of Azureus have formed a company called Azureus, Inc. The program’s logo is the Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates azureus), shown on the Azureus webpage, as well as within the program’s start-up splash screen, from which the project took its name. The name was given to the project by co-creator Tyler Pitchford, who uses the Latin names of poison dart frogs as codenames for his development projects.

• BitComet

BitComet is a BitTorrent/HTTP/FTP download management software, which is powerful, fast, very easy-to-use, and completely FREE. It contains many advanced features for BitTorrent download and extends its leading BitTorrent technology to HTTP/FTP to accelerate downloading up to 5 – 10 times faster, or more.

Version 0.99 includes several changes such as checking software update in system automatically, adding support for Firefox extension download, and fixing some bugs.

• The Xvid Codec

The Xvid Codec (formerly capitalized differently: XviD) is a video encoding and decoding (playback) codec designed to compete with the popular DivX codec.

Xvid is a continuation of Project Mayo (original open source project responsible for the commercial DivX codec) and aims to develope a high quality open-source MPEG-4 codec. Unlike DivX, Xvid remains open-source.
