DJ Muggs and Planet Asia – Pain Language (2008)
This is the third iteration of this album hitting the scene. A promo was released a few months ago, followed by a clean advance. But this is the retail version, a few days before it hits stores. Once again, C4 is responsible for the rip. DJ Muggs is best known as the beatmaster behind hip hop legends Cypress Hill, and Planet Asia is regarded as an up and coming “mixtape” MC out of the Bay Area. This should be a must have for any fans of west coast hip hop.
As Pain Language, DJ Muggs and Planet Asia have changed the times yet again, delivering a record ahead of its time, yet classic in sound, feel, execution and attitude. “It’s a super highly-aggressive record,” DJ Muggs says. “We’re saying fuck you, we’re not going to follow a format. It’s just us putting up a middle finger up to everybody. We’re coming from that N.W.A attitude. This is rebellious music.”

Raphael Saadiq – The Way I See It (2008)
Neo-soul artist Raphael Saadiq’s new album, the Way I See It, is brought to us by C4, who have been very active today (so yes, more to come). Saadiq is a throwback, and sounds like he could’ve been on a compilation with the greats of the time like Syl Johnson, Teddy Pendergrass, and Otis Redding. Be sure to check this out.
Raphael Saadiq’s The Way I See It album is satisfying for both old school heads and today’s hip music buyers: his background as a musician, singer and songwriter is steeped in a love for R&B married with a commitment to making his own brand of expressive soul music. The Way I See It has the kind of smooth musical flow associated with great records made by pioneering producers at famous R&B companies like Motown, Invictus and Brunswick. From the foot-tapping opening track, “Sure Hope You Mean It” to the head-shaking reflective closer “Sometimes,” Raphael delivers a present day potent ode to a bygone era. Loyal Tony! Toni! Toné! fans will particularly appreciate “100 Yard Dash,” which Raphael describes as “a juke joint, Booker T.-type groove. I reflected back to my first T!T!T! albums when I was singing in a high tenor voice.” Raphael grins when talking about the hypnotic “Love That Girl”: “Man, that’s all about the swing…the way girls swing their hips! It’s the type of song that will make people move and that shuffle beat reminds me of those ladies I used to see playing drums in church!” With its Motown-flavored tambourine-featured beat, “Never Give You Up” is what Raphael calls “my three generations song. It includes C.J., this youngster from Baltimore that I’m working with and Stevie Wonder. Now comes The Way I See It, a masterful collection of new material that speaks to Raphael Saadiq’s deep love for rhythm and blues.

The latest version of Pioneer DJS, the most powerful DJ tool. It’s very easy to use. It’s cracked and released by group NULL
If I had the ability to choose a staff pick for music, this would be included. I’ve been a huge George Clinton fan for years, and had no idea this album’s release was on it’s horizon. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I’m excited about it. If you like TRUE funk, I’m sure this will be right up your alley. Enjoy.
